Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in people’s homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.

Story

Thank you for coming to my donations page for Marie Curie –  my name is Alison, I'm 43.  I wanted to make a sacrifice and capture imaginations so at 1pm on the 29th November 2014, at the Pub du Vin in Birmingham, I will be having my hair cut off to hopefully provide suitable hair for the little Princesses Trust who provide real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment; and then my head will be completely shaved.  My hair in a pony tail, currently measures 20 inches, it reaches the middle of my back when it is down.

Mum had successfully fought endometrial cancer earlier in the year, but in October 2013 was diagnosed with secondary cancer, in her stomach; 6 weeks later she was no longer with us.  This is my way of saying thank you to Marie Curie for taking such good care of Mum during the week she was in there, and ensuring she passed peacefully.  The staff at Marie Curie were absolutely amazing - kind, patient, caring, gentle, calm, knowledgeable & human.

I'd like to raise enough to at least pay for Mum's stay (£2,135) - but my goal is set at £7,321 for the Hospice to run for a full day.

Marie Curie provides care to people with ANY terminal illness in their own home or in one of their 9 hospices.

Every donation goes a long way;

•              £20 would pay to nurse someone with a terminal illness in the comfort of their own home for one hour, giving them the hands-on care they so desperately need.

•              £80 would pay for a Marie Curie Nurse to spend the evening caring for a patient at home.

•              £150 would pay for a Marie Curie Nurse to care for someone over night.

•              £305 would pay for one person to stay at the Hospice for 24 hours.

•              £2,135 would pay for Mum’s care for the week she spent at the Marie Curie Hospice in Solihull.

•              £4,460 every hour covers the cost of Marie Curie’s nursing service across the UK.

•              £7,321 would provide a full 24 hours of care for the 24 rooms at the Marie Curie Hospice West Midlands.

Please tick the Gift Aid box as this enables Marie Curie to claim 25p for every £1 from the Government
