Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I lost my father to cancer in September 2017. 'Big Sean' was a devoted father, grandfather, husband, uncle, brother and friend. We all have so many happy memories of him.

For many of the family, the last time they saw him was at my wedding to Mike where he gave a typically dry and unsentimental speech that nevertheless proved to be some of the most useful advice he gave me (those who were there will remember it well!)

When I announced I was getting married, one of the most frequent comments I got was, "I can't imagine you in a dress!" Well, I found a dress and it was (and is) a beautiful dress: a once-in-a-lifetime, jaw-dropper of a dress.

A wedding should be the start of a journey together, but for some people, the journey will be too short. Sometimes, no matter how much we want to help, all we can do is help make some special memories and that is what I want my lovely dress to do.

One special lady - I've no idea yet who she is - will have my dress, because I am donating it to the Wishing Well Foundation. I'm also giving up on the hair dye for 6 months and learning to embrace my silver locks (I inherited Dad's hair and now when I look in the mirror, I want to see a bit of him, not dyed hair) The money I save will also go to the Foundation, so whoever gets the dress, can also get 'the rest': whether that be a new hair-do, shoes, an outfit for her mum, a pampering session.....

I'll be spending the next 6 months ditching the dye and not cheating by strategic and expensive lowlights, highlights or other tricks. Please support me by donating what you can. Beauty is only skin deep and growing older is a natural process: it certainly beats not growing old.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

About the charity

The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation is a new organisation launched in 2012 with a single purpose- organising and funding weddings for terminally ill people. There are many men and women in the UK living with life limiting conditions or terminal illnesses who long to marry their special partner in life. We, at The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation believe that few things in life can be more important or rewarding, than giving such a person a chance to have their dream wedding day, with all the excitement, love and happiness that brings. As we are fully aware that time can be precious, we are able to organise the arrangements against the clock where required. For many families, the memory of a happy wedding day can be a cherished moment. Surrounded by family and friends, enjoying each other’s company and being full of joy and laughter; a wedding day is an occasion where everyone can look back and remember that special event, and smile.
