Inspired by our marathon hearted heroine, Becci Diver – Two fun but sweaty endurance head-to-heads over marathon distance & beyond - all in aid of a fabulous & worthy charity!
At 1pm on 14 June this year, we are holding a charity event in aid of The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation at Snap-Fitness in Market Harborough. This multi-marathon event encompasses two fitness based challenges detailed below:
Toe2Toe – Octane Challenge:
Two old school friends, Mark Pickering and Andy Horne, will be going head to head competing on octane machines in a "last man standing" style ultra-marathon challenge. The winner is he who has travelled the greatest distance at the end of a gruelling four hours, assuming they are still standing! Both boys are training furiously for the event to win the all important bragging rights whilst raising money for a fabulous cause close to their hearts.
Fit Girls versus Fat Boys:
Becci Diver, whose husband Stacey died tragically young of lung cancer in 2011, ran the London Marathon this year with support from Sian Hillier-Woodhouse and Sharon Foxon. These three brave girls, along with Gail Bellingham, a Personal Trainer and fitness fanatic will be competing against 4 middle aged "boys", whose only form of exercise is getting in the car to go to the pie shop – Dave Hall, Dean Bates, Graham Cowie & my Husband, Stuart Vincent! All four boys are willing to severely dent the local pizza shop takings in order to give as good account of themselves as possible against these female machines in the aid of charity. The two teams will compete over marathon distance via a treadmill and cross trainer with the winners being the first to reach the magic 26 miles 365 yards with the losers buying the drinks!
Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated.
