With only having 9 weeks notice to prepare I don't think Mo has anything to worry about! You probably know by now that I am a Trustee for Smart Works Newcastle. What you might not know is what a massive difference this simple and effective volunteer-led service is delivering to not only the women of the region but also their families and our regional economy.

If you think clothes aren't important, it's time to think again. The Smart Works Newcastle service provides women with a confirmed interview with a 2 hour appointment where she will receive a one hour styling consultation and an hour long coaching session. The styling consultation is delivered by two volunteers who work with the client to find the perfect outfit to boost her confidence and make her feel a million dollars! This is then followed by the coaching session, again provided by an experienced volunteer with a background in business and HR, to help prepare the client to answer interview questions and present the best version of herself on the day.

Since we opened in April 2018 we have already seen over 340 women for first and employment dressings. Of that figure over 60% of those we have been able to follow up have been successful at interview!

This service is not only helping women get back into employment through boosting their confidence and self belief, it is also allowing those women to show others what can be achieved despite the setbacks life may have thrown at them. Women inspiring women!
