Mariana fundraising page for WasteAid

Let's raise funs to support WasteAid · 3 October 2021
My name is Mariana and I'm fundraising for WasteAid.
Since I was a child I've enjoyed nature and being outdoors but as I grew older I understood that I had taken our home planet for granted.
The more I learnt about how our actions and everyday behaviour impact our environment the more convinced I got that something must be done to revert the current environmental crises we are living.
On my part, I am committed to reduce my plastic consumption significantly, learn about what we can do to minimise our impact as we pass through this world and leave a better place for the next generations, support great non-profit organisations such as WasteAid, and spread the word to all those open to listen.
I worked at Zumo, which is a leading fintech start up which really cares about the this critical issue and has partnered with WasteAid to raise funds to support their mission to share practical and low-cost waste management expertise, and the public health benefits they bring, with the communities that need it most.
What exactly are we doing?
Following on from a very successful virtual walk from Edinburgh to Cameroon in the midst of lockdown last year, on Sunday 3 October
members of the Zumo team will complete a 16.5 mile fundraising and awareness walk around Edinburgh, starting and ending in our home base of Leith. We’ll be aiming to engage with the public and collect donations all along the way - so look out for the Zumo T-shirts! Team members are also completing a variety of other side challenges that we hope will propel us past our target of £5000 raised by the end of 2021.
Why are we doing it?
We’re proud to support WasteAid and the good work it does around the world. As a company, we feel as passionately about protecting
and nurturing our environment as we do about cryptocurrency. Our mission is to bring the benefits of crypto to everyone, whilst protecting the future of our planet: to play our part and set an example that we can all be proud of.
Who is WasteAid and what does it do?
WasteAid is a young, dynamic and independent charity, based in the UK, but with global reach. The charity works with local communities to implement waste management and recycling programmes in some of
the world’s poorest places, helping to improve people’s health and livelihoods, tackling climate change, and preventing plastic from entering our oceans.
Where will your money go?
By donating you are showing your support for the one in three people globally who have no access to waste management services. Your
support will help WasteAid in its work to improve livelihoods, promote circular economy innovation and contribute to a cleaner and healthier future for all. WasteAid currently has active programmes in Gambia, Cameroon, South Africa, Malawi, Kenya, India, Vietnam and Indonesia.
Help us make a difference - any donation whatever small will have a great impact!
