The Order of St John undertakes life-changing medical charity work, across the world, including the work of its eye hospital in Jerusalem and associated clinics. Like its medieval antecedent the hospital serves everyone regardless of faith or ethnicity.

I have always enjoyed swimming and wanted a challenge which could also help other people. When my daughter took part in Swim Serpentine last year it inspired me. I know she'll have a much better time than me but I am determined to finish.
