Adidas Women's 5k Challenge · 11 September 2011 ·

Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

Being someone who won't even run for a bus, I've never been one for exercise in public but this year, I'm giving the adidas Women's 5km Challenge a go on 11 September.

I'm also running to raise money for Refuge - a charity that helps women and children who are experiencing and escaping domestic violence. I have set a target of £350 and hope you can help me get there. I chose this amount because that sum could pay for a training workshop for 20 women, helping them to enter employment and regain their independence - and I think that's pretty worthwhile.

Anything you can give will be gratefully received and if you're lucky, I may even share pictures of me looking dishevelled post-run (although I like to think I will make it all look like an effortless Wonder Woman run).

Thanks for your support and please don't worry, I will keep my wine intake consistent in the lead up to (and possibly during) the run.
