Story
Fighting breast cancer is a cause very close to my heart; three of my close girlfriends who were diagnosed with breast cancer are in good health today due to the great treatments and support they received. 15 years ago, I lost a very dear friend to the disease. After seeing my friends’ fears and pain closehand, supporting efforts to prevent and find a cure for breast cancer has become even more important to me.
Five years ago, I jumped out of a plane with 10 fearless ladies to benefit Breakthrough Breast Cancer and raise funds for charity. We were called the “Boobie-birds” and took to the sky wearing hot pink onesies for the cause. Last year we climbed Mount Kilimanjaro together for the same cause. Now, Breakthrough has merged with Campaign, another breast cancer charity, to form Breast Cancer Now, the largest dedicated breast cancer research charity in the UK. Their combined efforts focus on finding a cure for the disease.
This year our trek will occur on September 22-29 and 12 brave and committed women will join me and we will raise funds for charity, BREAST CANCER NOW, which has always been close to my heart!
Right now, breast cancer is at a tipping point. More women are surviving. But more are being diagnosed than ever before. One in eight women in the UK will face breast cancer in their lifetime. And every 45 minutes, another woman dies from the disease.
