Basildon and Thurrock Annual Walk 2010 · 12 June 2010

Samaritans provides confidential non-judgemental emotional support, 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which could lead to suicide

Story

Hello peoples - thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hopefully you are visiting this page because you want to sponsor me on a 9 mile walk through some suprisingly pretty and historic Essex countryside that I am doing on Saturday 12th June.

As well as being a listening volunteer for Basildon and Thurrock Samaritans, I'm raising the funds needed to keep the branch running. More than 98% of Samaritans funding comes from individuals, trusts and companies, and without your support we would not be able to carry on providing emotional support to our callers. Every penny you donate here will go towards keeping the Basildon and Thurrock branch open to answer calls.

Just £4.72 will help us answer 10 calls from people in emotional distress, and every £94.32 raised pays all the costs for 24 hours listening. Which explains the slightly odd sum of money that I'm trying to raise. I want to raise £282.96 which is what it takes to keep the branch open for a weekend (Friday to Sunday) (I've had to scale down from my origional thought of the figure for a week!)

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the Basildon & Thurrock Samaritans and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer (so don't forget to tick the Gift Aid box if you are a UK tax payer.)

Thankyou for whatever you can donate
