Cambridgeshire Community Foundation helps local people to offer support to projects they care about; ones that are making a difference to the lives of local people. Through the Funds donors set up and grow at CCF, grants are made to support local charitable projects

Story

The Elizabeth Coteman Fund (held by the Charity, Cambridgeshire Community Foundation) was set up by the Coteman family in memory of Elizabeth Coteman, an outstanding wife and mother, who died from Pancreatic Cancer on 22 April 2010 at the age of 59

Mark is doing the Virgin London Triathlon this year to raise vital funds to fight the worst effects of Pancreatic Cancer. We need more investment in research to improve diagnosis and treatment. Your support will also make a direct impact on patients and carers through our grants scheme for patients and families.

Pancreatic cancer – the challenge!

-  5th most common cause of cancer death in the UK
-  8,463 people diagnosed each year
-  Lowest survival rate of the 21 most common cancers
-  80% of people diagnosed die within one year
-  96% die within five years
-  Less than 1% of overall UK cancer research spend
-  Worst NHS experience of almost all other cancer patients

Survival rates have hardly improved in 40 years!
