Update: I have done it. Ran the Edinburgh Marathon in 3hrs 24min 47secs which I am very happy with and also raised quite a bit for the Red Cross (though you can still donate) which is even better. Thanks for all your support.
Update: I have ran the Bath Half in 1hr 34min 31secs which I can hardly believe myself. It was a great sunny day and the atmosphere in Bath was amazing. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. Only 26 miles to go now...
I have decided to run the 2010 Bath Half Marathon and the 2010 Edinburgh Marathon to raise money for the British Red Cross.
I am doing this both because of my love of running (yes I am properly mad) and because I believe that the Red Cross does an amazing job helping those most in need in the UK and especially around the world.
I have been in proper training since Christmas and am feeling great already. I am aiming for 3hr30 for the Marathon and under half that for Bath but will have to see how realistic that is closer to the time.
Here is the JustGiving blurb:
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. So please dig deep and donate now. Finally if you see me running round Maidenhead or Bristol please feel free to shout some encouraging abuse. Cheers and Thanks for your Generosity. Mark
