For those of you who have known me for a long time will know that this is not my first marathon; it's is in fact my third. My last one was in 2009 before I sustained a back injury which since put me out of action. Due to this I thought I would never run another marathon. However I have just received the news that I have a charity place running for Caudwell Children so I'm up and dusting myself off to give it another go! 

I am running to raise £2000 for Caudwell Children, a disabled childrens charity. For the last few years Caudwell Children have given us financial grants to help fund my autistic son Dylans costly ABA programme. 

Since my back injury I have been unable to work fulltime so I have used the time and financial support from Caudwell Children to home educate Dylan. 

Dylan was in special education for 5 years from nursery age and during that time it became apparent that he was learning very little and that professionals expectations for him to develop were incredibly low. Something as parents we found very difficult to accept. With Cauldwell Children's financial support we have turned that around and Dylan is now a happier child who is now able to learn about the world around him and has a chance to develop into an individual who will find his place in society. 

We hope Caudwell Children will help us to keep Dylans progress going by continuing to approve the yearly grants we apply for to enable Dylan to access the highly differential learning method which is helping him grow.
