We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

My plan this year was to do the London to Brighton bike ride to raise money and have a bit of a challenge.  A few weeks before the ride though I challenged gravity to a fight and lost, making a good job of crashing my bike and having to bail out of the L2B.  I was pretty gutted.

So, in search of another challenge, I was gently coerced (read bullied!) into the Ford run 10k team for the Hylands Park 10k run at Chelmsford.

This run fills me with trepidation.  I am not a natural runner.  I usually run from things (ie danger) or to things (ie cake).  The idea of running for pleasure is about as alien a concept to me as could be imagined.  This is going to be a serious challenge.

Not content with a 10k run being difficult enough I've somewhat neglected my running training, in favour of mucking about on my bike - which I enjoy far more.  I have bought some new trainers and will look the part.  "All the gear and no idea" springs to mind...

Anyway, it's a great cause - and with gift aid any donation goes a lot further.  Give up a pint this week and put it in the fund - in true Smashy and Nicey style, it's great for charidee.

Thanks all

Mark
