Hi, my name is Mark and I am looking to fundraise for a truly worthy cause. Musgrove Park Hospital holds a special place in my heart, as both of my children were born prematurely at 28 and 29 weeks. They required critical support during their long stay, approximately 9 weeks each. There are around 60,000 babies born prematurely in the UK every year, that’s 1 in every 13 babies born before 37 weeks, many of whom will require oxygen support.
The Challenge
In Spring 2023, I have planned to cycle the length of Britain, starting at Lands End and finishing at John o’Groats, covering over 900 miles in 9 days. Colleagues/friends from the Royal Navy are also joining me to take on this >100 mile per day challenge and will also be looking to support this great cause.
The journey will take me out of my comfort zone. I have done many physical sports over the years but nothing like this! An exciting challenge awaits!
The Charity
‘Love Musgrove’ is the registered charity of Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton. They help fund things above and beyond what the NHS can provide. My mission is to raise money to help purchase oxygen assist modules for the neonatal intensive care unit, to save valuable time for the team. The wonderful, caring, attentive nurses will then be able to spend more time providing different types of care.
The target is to buy two oxygen assist modules, however it would be awesome to get one for every bed. They have a total of 10 beds in the NICU.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I hope it inspires you to donate for such a great cause. Please follow our live link where you can follow our journey and Laura will provide daily progress reports via this page and Facebook. See the below link for the live tracker👇 🙏
