Story
In 2005, Eddie Martin's wife Myra was killed in a car crash. The chain of events that followed lead him to start a charity to drill wells in villages in Burkina Faso to provide clean water to some of the poorest people in the West Africa. After small beginnings, the charity has already provided nearly 80 wells, each costing about £4000 to drill and set up.
It is estimated that 8000 wells are needed throughout the country. Your contribution will help us to reduce that number more quickly. It is hard to believe that, in the modern world, there are so many who have no access to clean water.
My challenge will involve cycling up some of the famous mountains that feature in the Tour de France, including Croix de fer, Toussiure,Telegraphe and Galibier. This will be during a week from 13th - 19th August. I'll have plenty of water with me. People in Burkina Faso often have to walk 2, 3, 4 or 5 miles to find any water - and that is often dirty.
