Story
I felt I had to commit to my fourth marathon and raise awareness surrounding Pancreatic Cancer, after I met and first got to know two very special people (Lisa Mejuto and Michele Bromley). Being friends of my wife, Nadia Sawalha, when I met them both for the first time, it wasn't long after their mother Valerie Wiles had passed away following a frighteningly swift fight against Pancreatic Cancer.
I was struck by the incredible sadness of how two lovely sisters had, within just several weeks, lost that most critical of people in virtually everyone's lives ... their mother.
I never met their mum - but in meeting both Michele and Lisa I felt i had a true sense of Valerie. To this end - each time I meet Lisa and Michele I can feel the absence and hole that has been left by their loss.
So, in tribute to Valerie Wiles who is single handedly responsible for bringing into the world two very kind and very dear daughters, I am going to be donning my battered trainers and seeking to raise some much needed money for a particular type of cancer that requires an immense amount of research and support in order to help prevent or minimise such a swift loss happening to others.
For Valerie, for Lisa, for Michele and for all other families who have suffered or are suffering at the hands of Pancreatic Cancer ... support me. However little or however large - every little bit will help!
Many thanks
Mark Adderley and Nadia Sawalha
