Isle of Wight Challenge 2018 · 5 May 2018 to 6 May 2018 ·
On the 5th of May I (an overweight male) will be attempting to walk/jog (jog is unlikely) a 106km Ultra Marathon on the Isle of wight in under 24hrs with some great friends. I will be doing this to raise money for the charity CALM, a charity that helps to support those who are depressed and are thinking about taking their own lives. This is a charity that I hadn't even heard of until this year and I doubt that many other young people know about it either. I hope this can change as suicide is tragic and affects everyone involved. This cause is so important to me as one of my dearest friends, Harry Corbett who took his own life whilst we were on our travels around the World. Harry was a funny, caring and loyal friend. On top of all that he was a hard worker, fantastic rugby player and a courageous leader. On a sad day in Vietnam we lost a friend, Barbara and David lost a son, Jack lost a brother and the World lost someone who inspired all of those around him. So if doing this Ultra Marathon prevents just one person from taking their own life then all of the pain and heartache that I will go through completing this challenge would have been worth it.
