This October, I am going to be embarking on an adventure of a life time – climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Scope, a UK based charity for individuals with cerebral palsy.  Over a 10-day period I will trek along the highest freestanding mountain in the world.  We’ll follow the Machame Route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the south, through the tropical rainforests all the way to the mighty snowcapped summit at 19,340 feet.

For those of you who haven’t heard of Scope, it’s the UK's leading disability charity working with children and adults with cerebral palsy.  This condition is the most commonly diagnosed physical condition in the UK and occurs around the time of birth when part of the brain fails to develop properly.

Scope's aim is to help these individuals to achieve as independent of a life as possible.  They are working towards this vision by conducting research into the issues that affect disabled people, emphasising support through childhood diagnosis and development in early years, and organising national and local campaigns to raise awareness.

I am thrilled to be taking on the toughest adventure of my life, to help to improve the lives of others. This is a massive challenge for which I have an intense training schedule ahead of me!  At this stage, I’m looking for donations of any size, no matter how large or small, to help raise awareness for the individuals who are physically not able to partake on such a challenge themselves.
