Livery Halls Walk · 15 September 2011

The Ironmongers’ Foundation was established in 1963, the 500th anniversary of the Ironmongers’ Company being granted their first charter. It enables the Company to give: a) scholarships to disadvantaged young men and women to read material sciences at university b) money for the restoration of historic iron work c) relief in need

Story

We completed the 40 Livery Halls Walk on a bright sunny day. Here we are with our fellow walkers outside Ironmongers’ Hall after a refreshing glass of sherry. Including Giftaid and offline donations we are over half way to our target. Thank you all for your generous contributions, which are going to a very good cause.

On Thursday 15 September 2011 I will walk the 40 Halls accompanied by Richard Patteson-Knight. Our target is to raise at least £5,500 for the Ironmongers’ Foundation of which £5,000 will be used to sponsor one of our Undergraduate Science Scholars for one year.

We will be part of the Environmental Cleaners Company 6th Livery Halls Walk. The course is some eight and a half miles long and there will be a Group photo at each Hall.

£500 will meet the full cost of sending a deserving 16-18 year old Member of the City and North East Sector Army Cadet Force to a camp in Hong Kong next April.
