Nerve Tumours UK provides support and information, as well as campaigns and raises awareness on behalf of over 26,500 people in the UK who have NF, the group name for Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1), NF2-related-Schwannomatosis (NF2) and Schwannomatosis (SWN).

Story

Back in January 2013 I decided to change my life around and get "Fit for Forty".

My fitness journey started with joining the local gym in the January of 2013..... as the year progressed and the weight become harder to loose I felt the next step would be to start doing a little jogging I therefore took the decision to  join the Quakers Running Club and it was with there support I was able to complete my first local park run.

My next objective is to do a 10K and this will be included in my training schedule as I have now  decided to set my goal even higher and do the biggest half marathon in the world  “The Great North Run” .

I felt that although I will use this achievement as another stepping stone in my aid to be "FFF" I would  more importantly use it to raise money for “The Neuro Foundation”.

This charity is something close to my family and I as my eldest daughter was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis  when she was younger.

Neurofibromatosis is a common genetic condition. The “spelling mistake” in the gene is found on chromosome 17 and occurs in 1 in 3000 of the population. There are approximately 25,000 people in the UK diagnosed with NF1 and as of yet there is no cure.

More information can be obtained about this genetic condition at http://www.nfauk.org/what-is-neurofibromatosis

Many thanks in advance.
