Story
Hello, my name is Martyn and I am taking part in the Sheffield 10k in order to raise funds for the labour ward in my local hospital.
In May this year, myself and my partner were given the devastating news that our unborn daughter has a condition, typically described as incompatible with life. Since the first diagnosis Rotherham hospital have provided us with an excellent level of care, primarily delivered through the specialist bereavement midwife. However, there were lots of extra touches that were provided to us through kind donations of others. When our daughter was born sleeping in June we were provided with things such as specialist small clothing, tiny blankets and a memory box complete with two identical teddies, candles, hand and foot prints and much more. All of these things were donated by people with similar experiences.
Through our fundraising we hope to be able to provide Rotherham hospital with the things they are currently needing most, which are; a new digital camera as theirs in now broken and they are unable to provide parents with precious photographs of their baby, small outfits for babies under 3lb and extra items for memory boxes.
Walking away from hospital without your much loved baby is the most unimaginable pain but having the precious items to hold and remember make the pain that little bit more bearable. That is why I am so passionate about maintaining the hospital's ability to provide these things to other devastated parents.
Thank you for your kind support and donations.
