Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I, along with Martin Morgan, will be taking part in the Dublin Marathon on the 25th October 2010 in order to raise money for the Motor Neurone Association.

My sister-in-law, Sharon, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease 8 years ago. The Motor Neurone Association has supported Sharon from when she was first diagnosed and continues to support her through every new challenge associated with this disease. One of the missions of the MND Association is to fund and promote research to understand what causes MND, how to diagnose it and, most importantly, how to effectively treat it so that it no longer devastates lives.

Over 5,000 people in the UK are facing life with Motor Neurone Disease. MND is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing.

We are planning to run to raise money for the Motor Neurone Association to help them to fund further research and we would be really grateful if you helped in sponsoring this event.
