We raise money to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

Story

As many of you know Martin is currently being treated at The Royal Marsden Hospital, Chelsea for Oesophageal Cancer.

I applied for a ballot place in the London Marathon thinking it was a bit crazy but I wouldn’t get in would I? However back in the Autumn last year, having just completed the Amsterdam Half, a letter plopped through the door confirming a sought after place.

Scary stuff but the chance of running it for the Marsden spurred me on, how could I pass up the chance to raise some money for this cause?
So here we are in March with a few kilometres under my belt and a huge amount more to do. I have always been active but have never been a runner so the training so far has not been easy. However fighting cancer is not an easy journey either and during Martin’s treatment we have met some truly inspirational patients, not least Martin and wonderful staff.

So on the 28th April I will stand proudly on the start line ready to make my own, possibly painful journey around the Marathon route, but I will do it knowing just what a truly amazing place the Royal Marsden Hospital is and every step will be to help raise funds for this life changing charity. I do it for every single person we have encountered fighting their own battle - sadly not all of whom have made it through.

Please, please dig deep as I doubt I’ll run a second Marathon and every penny, no pound-it is 26miles, really does count.

Here follows a bit more info about the charity:

From funding state-of-the-art equipment and ground breaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
