Brighton Marathon 2021 · 12 September 2021 ·
Hi, I'm Tilly and I am running the Brighton Marathon. I never thought I would enter an event like this but have been inspired by my Uncle Jamie. Jamie was a keen runner and cyclist. He challenged himself by entering events like the Edinburgh Marathon, the GEAR run and attending his local park run as often as he could. He seemed to be so positive and was always supportive to me as I was growing up. He encouraged me when I began running and we ran my first ever 10K event together. Jamie took his own life 2 year ago and it came as such a shock to me and everyone who knew him. His death has had such an impact on my life and on the lives of all those who knew and loved him. We have all been left wondering what we could have done to prevent this tragedy.
Mind is an amazing charity which provides such invaluable help to people struggling with depression and gives support to them and to their families and friends. I only wish my uncle had sought their help.
I am so grateful to anyone who feels able to sponsor me for this event. I am dedicated to supporting this worthwhile charity and to helping to promote the benefits of running for mental health.
