GoFor24 - What Is It?
A football match that lasts 24 hours, an ever present team of rotating players compete against local businesses, community members/teams and emergency services, all in the name of charity...
The concept came from Newbury Forest Football Club in 2010, the club wanted to generate money for charity in a football themed event. The idea grew and the inaugural event was held in July 2011.
The Dream
Since the launch in July 2011 there are huge dreams for the event. We are now taking the event international and holding 24 hour matches throughout the World raising money for various charities and aid organisations.
To help do this we need like minded people who can make an event happen!
By the summer of 2017 we hope to have grown the event a size that matches our ambition: 24 hours, 24 cities, 24 million dollars...
Right now, there is a special opportunity to be part of a "never been done before" global movement to achieve the ultimate goal of 24 hours, 24 cities and 24 million dollars for charity.
2012 - GoFor24 Global
This year a GoFor24 match will take place in London, Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Toronto and we are looking to finalise an event in Brisbane.
We are asking for volunteers around the world to donate their time and effort into organising similar events all raising money for their own local charities. The more locations we can secure, the greater the spectacle, the larger the scale of GoFor24 and the more money can be raised for good causes.
The event format is consistent at each venue and runs for 24 hours during which local teams, community groups, special services etc are invited to participate and play against a host team who take up the challenge of maintaining a continual presence for the entire 24 hours.
