The full story is over at: https://mattm60walk.wordpress.com/, and ongoing. But I'll provide shorter, more digestible updates here.

The short version is: I just fancied doing a long walk.

The medium-sized version is: last year I planned to do a 24-hour walk. Not for charity; just for the sake of it. And to create art while I was on the way. It never happened because I wasted my time talking about it and not taking any practical steps. Also I couldn't work out a route to take.

So this year when I had the idea of walking round the M60, Manchester's orbital motorway, it seemed the perfect fit. This time I decided to set a date (Saturday 30 May 2015), set up a blog (the URL above), and raise some money for charity on the side. All of which would force me to actually plan and carry out the walk.

There are still challenges ahead. I'm confident I can walk the whole distance in one go, but I haven't planned my route yet. My main focus is doing the walk and making some art as I go, but I haven't decided what art or how. All of this is part of the challenge, and I plan to document it all.

Why not join me in my challenge? At least by offering support and reading the blog.
