Story

This page is for Matt Dorber raising funds for National Animal Welfare Trust by running the London Marathon. If you would like to make a donation to the #FinishForMatt campaign and support Matt Campbell’s chosen charity Brathay Trust, please head over to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mattcampbell-londonmarathon

When the National Animal Welfare Trust offered me a place in the London marathon with them, I jumped at the chance.

I adopted my cat, Alice, from Heavens Gate in Langport back in 2012. It's crazy to think that such a tiny little thing can bring so much happiness. It's also staggering to think that anyone could be heartless enough to abandon her as a kitten and leave her with her siblings, with no care or concern for their well being. Every animal has it's own unique personality and can bring so much joy and loyalty to a family, and yet thousands are abandoned every year.

I try and give when I can to NAWT, back in 2016 I ran the Barcelona marathon with my friend and raised money for them, and I'll be doing everything i can to raise even more for them this time around. I’ve also recently started as a volunteer at Heavens Gate, training on the Open Paw program, which aims to give recently brought in dogs the social skills and confidence needed to hopefully go home with a lovely new family.

Even if you just donate a quid, it'll be greatly appreciated!

“National Animal Welfare Trust is a Rescue and Rehoming charity; caring for and rehoming up to 1800 animals a year. We care for animals who find themselves homeless through no fault of their own, bring them back to good health, train them and finally find them a loving forever home. We never stop caring and are here as long as an animal needs us, offering continued support to everyone that rehomes a pet. Our mission is to promote responsible pet ownership throughout the UK so that one day every pet might have the responsible owner they deserve.”
