Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm raising funds for Swaledale Montain Rescue in memory of my friend Matt 'The Mute' Parker who was tradically killed whilst kayaking in January 2013 aged only 36 years.

Matt was a unique and inspirational friend who's passion and energy inspired us all. I met Matt through our shared love of BMX so it seems appropriote to take to two wheels to remember him. Although I'm not completing the chalenge on my BMX I will be riding a fixed-gear bike.

For anyone who is not familiar with fixed gear bikes they differ from typical road bikes in that they have no gears and no freewheel. This means that I will not be able to select a lower gear to get up the hills and will not have the option to coast down hill either.

About the charity

Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team comprises c40 members, all volunteers, who are available at all times of the day and night in any weather, 365 days per year, to assist those in distress or lost in the remote areas of Swaledale & Wensleydale, North Yorkshire. We are funded entirely from donations.
