Virtual Thames Marathon · 26 August 2020

REACH is the leading charity providing support and information to parents and their children affected by upper limb difference. We have a dedicated network of volunteer branch coordinators spread across 19 areas of the UK and Ireland. The charity relies totally on fundraising to survive.

Story

I was due to partake in The Thames Marathon swim from Henley to Marlow on Sunday 16th August but COVID-19 had other ideas.

The company who run the event, The Henley Swim company, are running this event as a virtual race through August and the first half of September. As I was due to do the race in one day, I have decided to give it my best shot to complete the distance within one day on Wednesday 26th August; I will do an open water swim in the morning and evening, and possibly squeeze in a lunch time pool swim to try and get all those miles in. I fully intend to do this event again in the summer of 2021 (and hopefully down the Thames as intended)  but would like to raise some money for this small charity this year.
