Story
Hello! And thank you for taking the time to get this far.
Myself and 9 other assorted non-climbers are about to attempt to climb the highest mountain England and Wales have to offer (the Scottish mountains scared us...) It's about a 10 mile round trip, which I can pretty much guarantee that:
a) I will not be trained for, and
b) will cause me a not inconsiderable amount of pain...
Why would we put ourselves through this, you may ask. Well, good question! We're doing it to raise money for the Prostrate Cancer Research Centre. Here comes the serious stuff: Prostrate Cancer has the second highest cancer death rate in men in the Western World. You may have been affected by it yourself, or know someone who has. We do. His name is Matt and he was first diagnosed over 9 years ago. He was given 2 years to live. Thanks to the work of organisations like the Prostrate Cancer Research Centre, he's still going strong, making us walk up mountains. He set up this event 5 years ago and has organised it every year since, regardless of what's going on in his personal fight. We think he's great and we're doing this climb to support him, and everyone else affected by this disease. Help us kick some cancer ass by giving us some money today!
