Story
Thank you all - I did it! I hour 49 mins, pleased to get round in one piece. Thank you all for your kind sponsorship, the money makes a massive difference to the families that Little Village supports.
Juliet volunteers for Little Village Camden and they do incredible work in supporting local families in need. The juxtaposition of wealth and poverty in London is stark, and only just down the road from our house is the Englands Lane hostel that houses over 100 families in very small and cramped rooms. Little Village gives these families, and many others, a boost by providing them with very quality essentials such as beds, buggies, toys and clothes that have all been donated by local families. Most of the money raised will go to buy mattresses, teats and nappies that can’t be donated.
We like the charity because we know most of the funds go directly to the front line, and the money raised will make a big difference. It’s almost entirely staffed by volunteers and families are referred if they are deemed to be in need to LV by professionals.
Many of the families referred to LV are living in hostels, some are mums who have escaped domestic abuse with nothing for their kids. Many have little or no recourse to public funds for no fault of their own.
Your money will go to
- £5 will buy a new moses basket mattress, giving a baby a safe place to sleep
- £20 will renovate a buggy, allowing a parent to get out and about
- £50 will buy new bottle teats for 10 families, ensuring safe and sterile feeding
- £100 will get 5 cotbeds ready for families, with new mattresses and any missing parts replaced
- £2,500 would cover our running costs for a week (we’re open 39 weeks a year)
