Story
In early 2015 aged 10, Matthew began to feel unwell and slowly got worse. Even the family holiday in Devon did nothing to improve things. The day after returning, Matthew was seen by the local hospital and without returning home received the devastating news that he had a brain tumour subsequently to become known as Brian and numerous spinal tumours.
Matthew was transferred immediately to Birmingham children's
hospital for further tests and surgery. Following the surgery Matthew suffered two very big and life changing strokes. Things looked very bleak for quite a while following the strokes, but anyone who knows Matthew knows what a fighter he is and with such indomitable spirit he wasn't going to let events beat him. Over the next 485 days Matthew underwent 30 sessions of radiotherapy and 9 chemotherapy treatments to get rid of Brian.
Once home again, thanks to his head teacher, school friends and
DIY SOS Matthew continued to visit BCH as an out patient.
Now 16 Matthew has decided he very much wants to give something back to BCH and so with support from his HLTA from Southall School and his new physiotherapy bike they intend to do the distance of 25km each starting on 26th of April and ending on 26th May 2021.
If you could possibly see your way to sponsoring Matthew and
thereby contributing to the fabulous treatment and care that BCH provide to help others now and in the future then please donate what you can to inspire Matthew into completing his latest challenge.
Thank you
