The Haemophilia Society is the only UK-wide charity for all those affected by a genetic bleeding disorder. We want to ensure that everyone affected by a bleeding disorder has equality of opportunity, the chance to connect with others in the community and the knowledge to feel empowered.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Matthew coped with Haemophilia all his life despite serious problems with his knee while young which left him with a permanent limp. After being infected from tainted blood products in the 80s he went on to become one of Britain's longest surviving HIV positives. Despite these problems he was determined to create a career as a writer and had three excellent, if as yet unpublished, science fiction novels to his credit and a fourth in preparation.

He never let his problems get in the way of living a full life. He travelled around the world, he was a fanatical follower of cricket and he had an amazing fund of general knowledge.

Stomach cancer proved to be just too much and though he tried very hard he finally succumbed and died peacefully at the Royal Free Hospital on Monday 6th. December 2010 at the age of 39. He will always be remembered by the many who knew and loved him.
