York Against Cancer is a local charity helping local people affected by cancer. We provide care and support for patients and their families in York and North & East Yorkshire, fund pioneering cancer research and provide cancer awareness education and information. We'll get through this together.

Story

A merry band of around 20 cyclists will be making the journey from York to Cork this summer. We plan to cycle the 400 miles between the 20th and the 25th of June 2011.

We've taken on this task to honour the memory of my godfather, Dr John Walsh, who tragically died after a long battle with cancer in 2009. His courage and dignity was inspiring, and he is missed by a great number of friends and his devoted family. John grew up in York, and was a great cyclist himself.

We are raising money for the charity, York Against Cancer. They fund cancer research at the University of York, and support local people affected by cancer.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and please give generously.
