5,000 feet of ascent, 15 miles, 8 mountains, 1 (long) day. Taking on the biggest and best mountains in the Lake District raising money for Be More Ben. Supporting families affected by the death of a child. Every journey begins with a single step.

Story

We, James(Tadds)& Matthew, are taking on an amazing challenge next year. 

We will be taking on the Be More Ben Mountain Mission challenge. We will be covering some of the biggest mountains in the breath-taking Lake District. 23km (14.3 miles) which includes 1500m (4900ft) ascent. It will not be easy and will be a struggle with age and past injuries to overcome. 

However…. The reason we are doing it

Along with 48 others we are raising money for The Benjamin Pritchard foundation which was set up by our friends Shane and Sarah after the death of their son Ben in 2018. Ben died after a 5 month intense battle with a incurable and inoperable brain tumour. Although they were surrounded by family and friends to support them, they felt alone and isolated.

Through their strength they are now supporting other families who have lost children through coffee mornings, curry nights, activity workshops, counselling and retreats. 

Please support us with as much as you can to reach (or exceed) our target of £1000 to continue the amazing work The Benjamin Pritchard Foundation do when the unthinkable occurs. 

We had the pleasure of knowing Ben and he was such an amazing inspirational boy who has left us all wanting to ‘Be More Ben’ 💙 🌈

Our son Ben was diagnosed with DIPG, a very rare and aggressive brain tumour, aged 7. Previously fit and well, on diagnosis, we were told his tumour was inoperable and incurable and that we had at best a year left with our son. Despite taking part in a clinical trial and having intensive treatment, Ben passed away 6 months later. Following his death, we found little in the way of regular, ongoing support that was informal and for the whole family. To lose a child and feel that there is no help available to you is frightening and leaves you feeling isolated and vulnerable. We set up The Benjamin Pritchard Foundation – Be More Ben to enhance bereavement support and services for parents, families and siblings who have lost a child under the age of 18.
