St Rocco’s Hospice provides specialist care and support across Warrington, helping those who are coping with a life-limiting illness. It costs over £5 million each year to run the hospice – which means we need to raise over £12,000 each and every day just to keep running.

Story

I remember the first time I met Ann. I'd recently started going out with Beth and was meeting her Nana and Granddad for the first time (Ann and Stan) I walked in with about a week's worth a facial hair on my face and she said with a smile 'Oh No! I've spent ages trying to get Beth's uncle to shave, I don't need another one.'

Sadly, Ann was diagnosed with cancer  just under a year ago and last week (11/07/2016) passed away with her husband and daughters by her side and other members of the family close by.

The treatment and support she received from St. Rocco's Hospice was absolutely second to none. The genuine care that they delivered allowed her husband to be a husband, her daughters to be her daughters and her family to be her family, without having to worry about medical care, medication or other stressful things like that.

We are unbelievably grateful to them for allowing us the space to care for such a wonderful woman and it is only right that we repay some of our gratitude. I know some members of the family are doing the colour run to raise money for the hospice but for me (partly because I wouldn't survive such things as exercise) I thought it would be right to brave the shave.

Those of you who know me know that I take great pride in my chin warmer/food catcher/pen holder/beard, but Ann never liked it. It costs the hospice a massive £9000 a day to keep it running so I'm not going to let it the fuzz go for nothing. I'm hoping to raise £1000 for St Rocco's, that means if 100 people donated £10 we'd achieve that target.

So let's do it, I know a lot of you wonder what my chin really looks like under there. Now's your chance.

Love y'all

Matt
