The RSA is a national charity providing vital support and advice to sufferers and their carers. It aims to promote a greater awareness of Raynaud's and scleroderma; raises funds for research and welfare projects and improves communication between doctors and patients.

Story

The family would like to turn the sad passing of Mavis into a celebration of her life by trying to help the RSA reach their million pound target for research

This charity works hard to raise funds for research into Raynauds, a condition that Mavis suffered with for more than 40 years, and who are currently trying to raise a cool million pounds.

Anyone who knows Mavis, will remember that she always had a smile on her face and had time for everyone despite the difficulties she faced everyday.

Fifteen years ago she had a stroke which caused her to be paralaysed down one side, which when added to her previous condition of raynaulds and scleroderma, would have caused other people to give up. She did not know the meaning of the word "no" or giving up, she never allowed her many illnesses to stop her doing anything. She even travelled the world with her wheelchair, causing amazement with the locals who saw her.

In latter years as her condition worsen her travelling has been confined to going to London to visit her specialists at the Brompton and Royal Free or going on short breaks in the UK.

Mavis would never have been able to do as much as she did without the support and encouragment she obtained from the RSA, her consultants and her friends.
