Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Our lovely identical twin boys, Maximillian Thomas Bull and William Thomas Bull, were born asleep the day they would have been 24 weeks.  They were suffering from a condition called TTTS (Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome), which affects around 10% of identical twins who share a placenta.

TTTS is a random placental abnormality that causes one identical twin to receive less than normal amounts of blood supply during pregnancy while the other receives too much. The babies share blood vessels in their placenta that cause an imbalance of blood flow and nutrients between them.

Following laser surgery on their placenta at 18 weeks, William very sadly passed away.  Max appeared to be doing very well and it was a great shock when we lost him at nearly 24 weeks.  We are devastated by their loss.

We would like any donations in the boys' names to go to the Lister Hospital baby unit because they were amazing when our boys were born.  I don't think we could have asked for more kind and sensitive care and it made saying hello and goodbye to our baby twins a little more bearable.
