I am a Clinical Research Fellow at Cambridge and studied Ataxia Telangiectasia (AT) for my PhD. AT is a very rare genetic disease affecting both young children and adults. It causes progressive neurological symptoms, respiratory complications and greatly increases the risk of cancer. AT is incurable and many questions are unanswered about the disease mechanism.

During my time in AT research, I have been so impressed with how involved the AT society are with patients, families, clinicians and scientists. They are a fantastic team funding innovative research and have a wealth of information for families and health care professionals alike.

I started to run again few years ago without really knowing what to expect but I got the running bug and started to run further. I completing the Cambridge half marathon and Thames Path challenge 100km ultramarathon for the AT society. This time I have set myself my biggest challenge yet, Equinox24, running as many times around a 10km loop as possible in 24 hours. The race will be tough running through the night with extreme sleep deprivation is something that I have never experienced before. The training will be tough but it will be worth it to raise money for this amazing charity and to raise awareness about AT. Please sponsor me!
