WHAT ARE WE DOING?

We are taking part in the PERKINS Great Eastern Run (Peterborough) on the 14th October 2012 - 2 days after Maya's 1st Birthday.

WHO IS DOING IT?

Maya the butterfly, Fay Dovey (Mummy), Aaron Ratcliffe (Daddy), Heather Dovey (Aunty Hev Hev), Jan Dovey (Nana) and Mike Dovey (Pops).

WHY SHOULD YOU DONATE TO US?

On the 12th october 2012 Our beautiful baby girl MAYA was born, Now nearly a year old she is doing fantastically well and is a happy striving little girl.

This is thanks to SHINE!

Maya was diagnosed with Spinae Bifida on her 20 week scan and later developed Hydrocephalus and Arnold Chari's Malformation. Without SHINE's help, support and information over the past 18 months we would not be where we are today.

SHINE gave us the much needed support and information in those first days after leaving the hospital in confussed, scared state to make important life changing decisions that would affect all of us for the rest of our lives.

WHAT HAS SHINE DONE FOR US?

SHINE was there to introduce us to Mr the head of a research project focusing on the use of MRI scans in the diagnosis of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.

SHINE was there when we needed someone to talk to when we found more information out about Maya's prognosis in the later stages of my pregnancy.

SHINE was there to give us information to help explain what was happening to our family and friends.

SHINE has been there to conect us with other families and individuals coping with the same and similar challenges we are facing.

WITH YOUR DONATIONS WE HOPE THAT:

SHINE continues to be there for us when we need help and advice.

SHINE can continue to promote the taking of FOLIC ACID with their 'GO FOLIC' campaign.

SHINE can continue to raise awareness of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.

SHINE is able to give other people the help, advice, support and information they need in the future.

SHINE continues to provide a Community of support for individuals and families living with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.

 

So with YOUR help we are hoping to give something back to those that helped us so much and Every penny counts to help SHINE to continue to offer it's services to the many that need it so much.
