Story
In March 2010 our first child was born, our beautiful daughter Laila Milly. After a fairly straightforward pregnancy, we were shocked to discover at 6 weeks old that Laila had a life limiting condition called Aicardi Syndrome. She had severe developmental delay, she had to have an operation at 14 weeks old to insert a tube so that she could be fed directly into her stomach (this gave us extra time with her), she suffered daily with seizures, often up to 30 a day. We were blessed to have her in our lives for 12 months, our brave little warrior fell asleep in my arms the day before her first birthday 💔
In March this year Laila would have turned 10, a significant milestone age in any younger persons life. To honour my beautiful girl I am planning on running 10 events, which alongside training, I’m aiming to run 1000 miles by the end of 2020!
These are:
* Langsett Loop (marathon) - 12th Jan
* Cakeathon (marathon) - 21st March
* Paris Marathon - 5th April
* Keswick Half - 3rd May
* Windermere Marathon - 17th May
* Isle of Arran Half - 28th June
* Endure 24 (aiming for 60+ miles) - 4th July
* Ladybower 35 - 20th September
* Forrest of Dean Half - 27th September
* Hubble Bubble marathon - 31st October
All monies raised will be going towards the work that we do at the Laila Milly Foundation in Hemsworth, providing support to children with additional medical or physical needs or life limiting/threatening conditions and their families, both at the centre and through Super Sibs; a club to support siblings of children with additional needs.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the continued support that we’ve been given over the past 10 years 💝 words can’t describe how much it means to us xx
