Refugee Week Challenge · 26 February 2018

We welcome and empower all asylum seekers, refugees and other migrants to enable them to rebuild their lives and achieve their potential. Supporting over 3,500 people a year, these include unaccompanied children, destitute families, victims of modern slavery and those escaping conflict zones from around the world. To overcome the challenges our clients face, we offer a range of services which include employment and immigration advice, to therapy, English classes, social groups and much more.

Story

Could you survive off £37 a week? This isn't just food, this is your bus ticket everyday, your washing powder and your phone contract. This is what an asylum seeker in the UK has to do every single week.

Asylum seekers in the UK get an allowance of £37 a week, but are not allowed to work, or save money. If there is a surplus from the previous week, they have to give it back to the government. Imagine if you wanted to buy a winter coat. It will be at least £20, so you will have to survive the rest of the week with £17.

I am taking part in Refugee Week Challenge where I will be living off £37 for a week to raise money and awareness for refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. I need your help in working towards this! Any donation counts, please donate us for a good cause. All the money raised will support the Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre.

Thank you very much :)
