In 2015 my much loved Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. At that time, Mum & Dad were in their mid 70s. Sadly as many will know, this news & the journey patients & their families have to go on is scary to say the least.
My Mum is my hero & took it all in her courageous stride. The journey from my folks house to the incredible Beatson in Glasgow is 44 miles each way. 88 miles per day for 5 weeks of intensive radiotherapy.
It's a stressful time for patients & loved ones. Mum didn't want Dad driving that distance every day, especially when he was so concerned for Mum. How would she make the journey?
ENTER the angels who volunteer for LANARKSHIRE CANCER CARE TRUST! A small local charity who help the people of Lanarkshire in their time of need. A volunteer driver picked up my Mum every day & drove her door to door. Thank the heavens for this charity who really do help when people need it.
My Mum, Dad & all of my family are SO GRATEFUL to LCCT for taking the stress out of travel to & from radiotherapy treatment.
It's only taken me 8 years to give myself a kick up the backside to raise what I can as a thank you! Better late than never. So with Joe's help, we will walk The Mighty Stride (22.7 miles) in gratitude for my Mum's journey back to health, but also raise money for this brilliant charity.
Info below - they rely on amazing volunteers who use their own vehicles. Cancer affects 1 in 2 people in the UK. We all might need help. Anything gratefully received.
Love & Best,
Sarah & Joe - The "McEdges" 🤣❤️💪👍
