The disease of substance use disorder has affected my life in many ways. I have lost family member's to this disease and my children struggle daily with the affects of their birth parents use. I work with children every day who have seen and experienced more than they are equipped to deal with because of their family member's use. The trauma that this disease afflicts on the person with the disease and their friends and family member's is something we all need to continue to support so all can find hope and recovery.
