DRM combats homophobia & transphobia by educating young people. We know young LGBT people suffer discrimination and prejudice and are more likely to suffer mental health issues and attempt suicide. I am proud to be a pansexual transgender woman and have previously experienced years of mental and physical health issues related to my gender identity. Society still holds misconceptions and ignorance towards LGBT people. As a volunteer for DRM I am always amazed by the positive reaction and interaction I have with students in workshops. I have also met trans young people struggling with their identity and the work DRM does is crucial to assist them in living authentic lives, loved and supported by peers. Your money will help us reach out to more schools and give young people the opportunity to ask open, honest questions about what it means to be LGBT.
