Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Many will remember my dad, John Cowan, as the 'wee man who fixes the hoovers and washing machines in the indoor market'.

Sadly dad passed away suddenly last weekend and as you can imagine we are completely devastated.

We've been asked by various people if flowers can be delivered or if there is a charity that they can donate too. We have decided dad would very much rather have donations to a charity and so we have chosen the Ayr Hospital Volunteers.

In his later years dad was a regular face at the anti-collagant clinic and the eye clinic at the hospital. Whenever he had an appointment he always enjoyed a scone and a pot of tea afterwards at the Ayr Hospital Volunteers Cafe. He was always a great supporter of the volunteers and never accepted his change!!! That was just the type of man he was.

During this difficult period the cafe has been closed to the public so this years donation will sadly be a lot less than usual. This is why we have chosen this charity.

There will be no collection at the crematorium due to current restrictions. This page will stay be open for donations after the funeral also.

We're so proud of dad and very thankful to the people of Ayr for all their lovely comments and memories of dad left on the Remembering Auld Ayr facebook page.

Dad is going to be sorely missed by so many.

Dads funeral is on 26th November at 10.30am, Ayr Crematorium. Sadly only 20 people are allowed inside the crematorium but if you would like to pay your respects the procession will leave Barry Whelan Funeral Parlour, 3 River Terrace, Ayr at approx 9.45am. The procession will then go along the beach, past Seafield Post Office, Windyhall, and up Dalblair Road where the indoor market was then. Finally it will go along Whitletts Road before heading down the bypass to the crematorium.

All the family will take great comfort to those who are able to pay their respects along the route or outside the crematorium ❤

For anymore information regarding the funeral please head to the Barry Whelan Facebook page or contact the Ayr office directly by phone.

Many thanks from all of us ❤
