Hi I'm Gemma and my group is melanoma warriors-
Myself along with my amazing friends and family: Alicia Cottam, Beth Cottam, Karen Cottam, Sara Holmes, Tracey Beech & Kathryn Parsonage are all taking part in this years Race for Life.. Can you help us?
On October 3rd 2015, I was diagnosed with Melanoma, from a little mole located on the left side of my face next to my ear, which unfortunately progressed to stage 3, after my sentinel lymph node biopsy removing 2 primary lymph nodes (which left me with a 5inch scar down the left hand side of my face next to my ear) results confirmed the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes.
On the 15th Decemeber I underwent another major operation, called a lymph node dissection to remove 22 lymph nodes from the left hand side of my neck. This operation has left me with quite a big scar from behind my ear down my neck and up to my chin.
If it wasn't for the work of cancer research, none of my treatment would be available, and thankfully I'm still here to share my story.
I set up a Facebook page raising awareness of this horrible disease, and have been featured in many local and national newspapers and TV. Please like and share my page. www.facebook.com/melan.nomore
