As some of you know, I have recently been diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythaemia. It is in a class of diseases called Myleoproliferative Neoplasms, meaning a type of chronic blood cancer. It is uncommon, and I'm uncommon within that group because it's normally diagnosed between the ages of 50 and 70, and I've just turned 39. My platelets are stupidly high and rising. Although with ET I can have a normal lifespan, it has to be managed because I'm at a high risk for clots and embolisms.

I also have a friend being treated for a rare, very aggressive Leukaemia. She has a little girl a fortnight younger than Emrys. With trying to get my head around my own diagnosis, hearing hers really hit me hard.

I have decided that the time has come to cut my bum length hair on the 13th of December at the Assembly Rooms at 2:30, and because I'm taking such a huge step, I thought that it would be great if people could sponsor me to do it for a charity that will do both me and my friend, Charlotte, a lot of good. It will go into research that will combat these horrible diseases. Bloodwise, which is Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, is my charity of choice, and I hope that everybody can reach deep and help out. Share it along if you can, as well.
