Sponsored Skydive for Back Up · 27 July 2013
As you all probably know, in December 2009 my life got turned upside down and inside out when a blood vessel burst in my neck as I sat alone on a train after a set of successful music college auditions. I was left paralysed from the chest down with little movement in my arms and hands. It was a tough time to say the least and the idea of life stuck in a wheelchair was hardly appealing.
During my time in the spinal unit however I was introduced to The Back Up Trust. They showed me that life after a Spinal Cord Injury was anything but over and that I could still do anything that I set my mind to. I went back to college to complete my a levels and then decided to take part in one of Back Up's Multi Activity courses in the Lake District before heading off to uni. It was an eye-opening experience and I realised just what I was still capable of despite the SCI.
Seeing as The Back Up Trust have done so much to inspire me and to keep me doing what I love, I felt it was time to do something to give a little back. In order to do this I will be doing a sponsored skydive. Maybe I'm going a bit mad by doing this but Back Up is a very special charity that is really close to my heart and I would be eternally grateful if you could dig deep for such a life changing organisation. I can honestly say I would not be where I am now if it wasn't for Back Up and they really rely on donations and fundraisig like this to carry on being amazing!
Plus, throwing myself out of a plane is a pretty stupid thing to do...it's got to be worth a few quid ;)
