HVP Nepal-UK is a registered charity supporting the work of the Hindu Vidyapeeth (HVP) movement in the Himalayan nation of Nepal. Through its schools and associated projects, the HVP movement is working for a stronger future for Nepal through educational programmes based on Human Values Philosophy.

Story

This summer I will be volunteering for six weeks teaching English, Science and Maths in Nepal. I will be teaching at the HVP Central school in Kathmandu. The school is funded by the charity HVP Nepal-UK (https://www.hvpnepal-uk.org/) which provides accessible education for children of all backgrounds in three schools around the country. Fees are calculated on a means basis and the HVP scholarship fund subsides education costs for disadvantaged students.

In April 2015 there was an earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale  in Nepal that destroyed some of the school buildings. This had huge consequences for the school and meant that classes are still taking place in tents. The money fundraised will be used to contribute to the on-going construction of a new building. None of the money fundraised will contribute to my travel costs but will instead be critical in improving the learning environment for the students attending the school.

The education the students receive at the HVP schools opens so many doors and opportunities and your donations will really have an impact…If you would like to donate to this cause, please use the Just Giving link attached to this post. Any donation would be appreciated!

Thank you so much and I’m sure I will keep you updated on my trip in the summer. If you have any other questions about my plans or what I’m getting up to drop me a message/ ask me about it when you see me!
